How our keys by post services works

Inta-lock Auto Locksmiths can programme keys from vehicles made by certain manufacturers using components that can be sent to us in the post. For this, the owner will need to remove certain modules from the vehicle and post them to our offices in Leicester. Our experienced technicians will then carry out the necessary work and then return the modules by post for you to refit into the vehicle.

For those who work in garages or in the motor trade, who have the knowledge to extract the specific modules, this service can be especially useful.

JAGUAR/LAND ROVER/RANGE ROVER KVM UNIT

Jaguar Land Rover is one manufacturer that the keys by post service is applicable to. It has a KVM unit that operates the immobiliser and central locking system in vehicles that use a proximity key. It is the KVM unit that will need to be sent to Inta-lock Auto Locksmiths – we recommend by recorded delivery. Once our technicians have received the KVM unit, they will manually add a new proximity key into its memory. This will then operate the car’s central locking and proximity start functions.

Once the work has been done and the module has been tested, it, along with the new keys, will be sent back to you via recorded and tracked post.

If an emergency key blade is also needed, we can cut this, but you will need to extract the door lock barrel and send it to us in order for our technicians to cut a key for the lock. We can provide this service for vehicles where all keys have been lost, or if a spare key is wanted.

MERCEDES-BENZ EIS UNIT

Another manufacturer we provide services for is Mercedes-Benz. The German marque holds its vehicle’s immobiliser data in an EIS unit, which will need to be sent to us by recorded delivery so we can undertake the necessary work. After we have received the unit, we use our specialist software and equipment to source the necessary information and create the programming files needed to make a new key operational when it has been put back into your vehicle.

If you need an emergency key blade cut too, then we will also require the door lock barrel to be sent to us so that we can make a new blade.

When all the work has been completed and tested, we will send the new EIS unit and keys to you by recorded delivery so that you can reinstall it into the vehicle.

Terms and conditions of keys by post service

Inta-lock Auto Locksmiths cannot be held responsible if any loss or damage occurs while the goods are in transit. The fee for the keys by post service has to be paid in full before sending any units to Inta-lock Auto Locksmiths’ workspace in Leicester. Responsibility for ensuring units are in full working order before they are sent to us lies with the customer. If we receive a faulty module or unit, then we cannot provide a refund for work not carried out because of that.

We also need a few other details to be able to undertake the work:

-The car’s make, model and year it was registered

-Proof of ownership

-Card payment details

-Some form of photo ID – a driving licence is ideal.
